Day 6
August 9th, 2000

We awake to another beautifull day.  Here is a picture that Bill took of us all packing up, getting ready to hit the road.
Broken pou and broken F4.
A bunch of pictures of the damage to the F4.  All in all, not that bad really. All it really needs is a bar end, a turn signal, and a mirror, and it would be good to go again.

If intersested, I hear he is selling it cheap!  :-)

Bill asked Tom and I to take the wing and the SV out for a little ride, to bring them up to temperature, get a charge back into the batteries, etc.. We were happy to oblige!  I took the wing out (complete with radio blasting!) and Tom took the SV.

At this point Rob departed company with us, jumping on the slab, and making his way to his parents.  Wimp!   :-)

Tom and I bid farewell to Bill, wished him a speedy recovery, and jumped back on the road.  We slabbed back to 64 to 60, which we followed all the way to Suches, GA.

Somewhere in north Georgia.  Not something you want to see in 95°+ heat, while wearing an Aerostich.  :-(  Luckily, it didn't take that long.
It was a short, but fun, ride to TWO.
This sign always makes me laugh!
We unloaded, and set up camp.
Right next to the pool!
Once we unpacked, we did a quick run of Wolf Pen Gap (route 180) to 348 to 75 into Helen.  We were looking for the country store we had eaten at the year before, but could not remember exactly where it was, so we gave up and got lunch at Mom's Diner in Helen.

After lunch, Tom made his way back to TWO, while I made my way into Atlanta to see some friends.

I met up with my friend Lori and her husband.  We hung out for a while and had dinner.
And a picture of Lori and me.
From there, it was off to my friend's Bob and Lisa's, to meet the new twins! Here is one of Bob and Zach.
And one of Bob and Amanda.
I hung out in Atlanta until about 10:30pm, and then took off for the 1.5 hour ride back to the campground.  Unfortunatly, I forgot to bring my clear visor with me.  So, I nabbed a set of safety glasses from Bob, and started on my way back.

I left NW Atlanta and slabbed along I575 to the end, where I picked up 5.  I missed the turn for what I thought should have been 53, but looking closer at the map, I saw it should have been 108.  I backtracked to 108 and then to 53.  I followed that to 109 into Dahlonega and to 60, back to Suched.

I really like riding at night, and only wish I didn't have to worry about critters.  Luckily, I didn't see any.  I stopped at the crest of 60 to take in the view. This picture does not do it justice.  I need to learn to take better night photography with the digital camera.
And one of the bike.   :-)
I arrived back at TWO by around 12:30am.  Everyone else had long gone to bed, so I quietly crawled into my tent.
