Day 5
August 8th, 2000

Another short day planned.  We got up and broke down camp.
Sunrise over BRCC.
We left BRCC and went back along 276 back to the parkway.
- South to 215 south, which had just been chip sealed.   :-(   It still, however, offered quite good traction.
- From 215, we jumped on 64, which absolutely sucked.  We figured it would be ok mid morning, on a weekday, but we were wrong.  Got stuck behind a Pepsi truck from hell, that just would not pull over and let the line behind him go.  Another reason Pepsi sucks.
- From 64 we jumped on Waya Road in Franklin.
- We took Wayah to 129 and ran north to the Crossroads of Time.  We met the new owners, and  ended up buying a Throttlemeister for the XX.  After hanging out for a bit, with ran the gap. I don't know what was wrong with Rob and Tom, but after the first or second corner, I didn't see them again.  :-)
The obligatory picture at the start of the gap.

And then Tom.
Rob getting ready to show the full moon at high noon!
The view from the turnaround at the end of the gap, on the TN side.
We ran the gap back, then continued down 129 to 143 east, better known as the Cherahola Skyway.  Very fun road.  Very high, very fast sweepers, and no one really seems to know about it.
We stopped at the high point on the skyway to take in the view.
Above the clouds!
Rob, modeling the latest in Aerostich fashion!
From there, we continued along the skyway into Tellico Plains, TN. From there we:
- Took 39 south to 315.
- 315 to 30, on which we got cought in another brief, but serious downpour.
- 30 to 64, and from there we jumped onto slab.
Until we arrived in Chattanoga and casa de pou!
Kick-ass.  We were very quick to make use of that!
We hung out in the pool for a while until Bills wife, Sherry, got home from work, and then were treated to souther hospitality.  We BBQ'd next to the pool, enjoyed some great food, great company, then cought some racing, since it was Two Wheel Tuesday!

Bill and Sherry graciously put us  biker-scum up for the night, so we eventually called it a night!

Day total: 317 miles
