New Orleans, LA:

Original images here.
My original plan was to take off today and continue off west, but after last night, and the hangover, the thought of getting on the bike in 90 degree heat and riding had zero appeal. Plus this city rocks and it was Saturday, so I was staying another night. :)

Up and out of the room by about 10:30am. Micky was already up and gone. I grabbed some water, aspirin, then went over to the bikes. My low bean had gone out on me the day before, so I was going to take care of that. It took a while, and it was HOT, even in the covered garage. I managed to break another connection for my voltmeter while replacing the bulb, so I then had to fix that too. Micky came by, then went back to the room. As we were hanging out there the hotel manager (a canook, aye) passed by and let us know she was getting the AC looked out, apparently there were issues all over the hotel. Very nice lady.

Finished up the bike, went back to the room, then we went out in search of food. We were going to goto a place Tammy told me about, Uglesich, but when we got to that street we discovered it was like 10 blocks away, in the wrong direction, so it was back over to Bourbon street where we found a really nice place, I had some great red beams and rice and lemonade, and we watch Wimbolden on the TV.

After hanging out for it was some bar hopping. Here is the first stop, then we continued on. Don't forget your "Huge Ass Beers to go!" Here is the obligatory picture of me and Micky drinking a beer on Bourbon St. at like 2 in the afternoon. We then wondered around the French Quarter, and down to Jackson Sq. and the St. Louis Cathedral. Checked out the Mississippi, then made our way back to Bourbon St., passing several street performers. Back to our favorite bar where some very New Orleans style pfavoritewas going one (edited picture. :) )

We then went back to the hotel to get cleaned up. Here is the obligatory picture of the hotel with Dennis and me standing in front of it. Had another nice dinner (Shrimp Creole this time) then it was back to Bourbon Street. And another shot. And another. This was an early, no drinking night and I made my way home by 10:30pm, but not before getting a taste of the typical Mardi Gras type behavior on the street! Back to the room, pick up some postcards on the way, bed.
