On 04/29/08 I awoke with a sore on the back of my leg. At first I just thought it was a pimple, or a bite. The next day, it was a little worse, hot, swollen, etc.. On Wednesday, even worse, so first thing Thursday am, at the insistence of several friends, off to the ER.
They didn't know what started it, but they thought it was infected, an ultrasound later they decided it needed to be drained. So, drain it they did. About 1cc of fluid. They packed it, leaving a wick, gave me antibiotics, told me to come back in 2 days.
Two days later, went back, it was worse. This time, they drained >5cc's of fluid. They got the culture results back, MSRA Staph. Oye. New antibiotics, Percoset for the pain, bed rest. Going back on Monday. Turns out it was a subcutaneous cyst that got infected. How? Who knows. Visited my primary care doctor on 5/10/2008, after a week of antibiotics. He did not like what he saw. So, scheduled a surgen for 05/14/2008 to go in and clean out the area once and for all. Hopefully now that all the infected tissue has been removed, the leg can heal properly. We can hope!
