The Flood of 2001!

Starting on the night of March 21st, 2001, we started to get a lot of rain.  I mean a lot.  Combine this with the fact that we just got a shit load of snow,  the fact that the ground is still frozen, and the fact that there was no one home all day on the 22nd, and what does that leave you with?  Well, we found out.  Water, and lots of it.

Keep in mind that all these pictures were taken after I had already started removing the water (open the drain in the garage, 2 sump pumps working overtime), as my first priority was to get the water out.  Photos were an afterthought.  :)

So around 6pm, I get a call from Sus, who had just got home.  She tells me that our garage and basement are flooded with about 6" of water.  I think that maybe she is exaggerating a bit, but pack up and head home.  When I get home, this is the sight I was greeted with.  Sus was not exaggerating!
The scene in the garage.  Tires were a floating.
The bikes did ok.  Dirt bikes are used to the wet.
Another shot of the garage.
The view of the basement, looking in from the garage door.
So much for working out anytime soon.
The Norditrack is under water.
Stuff just a floating around everywhere.
Can you believe that the bikes were actually *floating* on the wooden platforms.
A closer shot.
Sus starts with the cleanup effort.
While Cooch stays where is is nice and dry.  Lassie would have called us, you know.
Just how much water did we get?
That much!  Almost a foot!
