Woke up to the sounds of roosters and other wildlife. Oh, that was just Kim and Todne packing up (Todne is camera shy and is hiding behind the tent). :) Of course I had to get the obligatory picture of the campsite. After a nice hot shower and packing up we hit the road. The plan was to get a good hour of riding in before we stopped for breakfast. We gassed up and jumped on 128 north, heading back to the coast. What a fun road! It was great right up until we neared the end where we got stopped for about 30 minutes at some construction. :( Todne decided to make the most of the situation and got a picture with the flagger. Little did I know, there was a turnoff right where we were stopped that paralleled 128 and would have taken us stright to the coast. Oh well.

Once we were back on US1, it was up the coast looking for breakfast. We pulled into Mendocino, parked the bikes and asked a nice old gentleman (the mayor?) for a recommendation. The cafe had a great view and great food, as can be seen by the smiles on everyone.
After breakfast we continued up US1 to Leggett, where we gassed up then had to check out the drive through tree. You know we had to take that picture. Here are Kim and Todne. Then it was up to the Avenue of the Giants. Whoa, those things are big. See, and I'm no small guy! Here is a group shot. I think we are going to title that one "Lords of the Twisties". :-) |

From there we continued up the coast until we made it to Crescent City. We called around, found a cheap motel, upgraded to the "Suite" (I'd hate to have seen the regular rooms!), then went out for some food. While waiting to be seated, the lady behind us asked me where I was from. I said "Boston", she said, "No, where specifically". She was from Lexington, MA. I was wearing my MREP t-shirt (Motorcycle Rider Education Program). Small world. After dinner it was back to the hotel where we planned the next day, and then to bed.
